How to use the Combine Front and Back Scans

  1. Choose the PDF with the fronts and the PDF with the backs, or one PDF with both. Or try the example.
  2. Tick whether the backs are in reverse order, which happens when the stack is turned over.
  3. Select Combine scans and download the PDF in reading order.

Supported files and limits

  • Works with two files (fronts and backs) or one file with all the fronts followed by all the backs.
  • The number of backs must equal the number of fronts, or be one less when the last sheet has no back.
  • Pages are copied exactly, without re-compressing the scans.
  • Up to 1,000 pages per file and 100 MB. Backs that come out upside down can be fixed with Rotate PDF Pages.

Common questions

Why are my backs in reverse order?
When you turn the whole stack over to scan the backs, the last sheet is now on top, so its back is scanned first. Leave the reverse option ticked for this.
What if some sheets have a blank back?
Scan them anyway so the counts match, then remove blank pages afterwards with Extract PDF Pages.
My scanner put everything in one file. Does that work?
Yes. Choose "One PDF", and the first half of the pages is used as fronts and the second half as backs.
Are my scans uploaded?
No. They are combined in your browser and never sent to our server or anyone else.
