Remove Image Metadata

Photos carry hidden data: where they were taken, the phone or camera, the date and sometimes the author. This tool shows what is in your images and removes it without re-compressing, so the picture itself stays exactly the same.

How to use the Remove Image Metadata

  1. Choose one or more JPEG, PNG or WebP images, or try the example.
  2. Review what was found, such as the GPS location, camera and date taken.
  3. Download the clean image, or a ZIP file when you chose several.

Supported files and limits

  • EXIF (including GPS), XMP, IPTC, comments, PNG text chunks and embedded previews are removed. The picture data is copied unchanged, with no quality loss.
  • The orientation setting is kept, so photos from phones stay upright.
  • Faces, signs, screens and other details visible in the picture are not changed.
  • Up to 50 images, 50 MB each. HEIC and RAW files are not supported.

Common questions

Do photos really contain my location?
Often, yes. Most phones store GPS coordinates in every photo unless location tagging is turned off in the camera settings. Anyone who receives the original file can read them.
Does removing metadata reduce quality?
No. The tool cuts the metadata blocks out of the file and copies the image data unchanged, so the picture is identical to the original.
Do social networks remove metadata?
Many large platforms strip it from public images, but email, messaging apps sending files, cloud links and many websites keep the original file with all its metadata.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Your photos are processed in your browser, and they are never sent to our server or anyone else.
