Common questions
What metadata does a PDF contain?
Usually the author (often the name of the computer's user), a title, the program that created it, and creation and change dates. Files from Word or Adobe software also carry XMP metadata that can include an edit history.
Why remove it?
A title like "Contract DRAFT v3" or an author from another company can reveal more than you intend, for example in tenders, client documents or job applications.
Does removing metadata change the content?
No. The pages look exactly the same. Only the hidden properties are removed.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It is cleaned in your browser and never sent to our server or anyone else.
