How to use the Crop Image to Aspect Ratio

  1. Choose one or more images, or try the example.
  2. Choose the proportions, such as 1:1 or 16:9, and the part to keep.
  3. Select Crop images and download the result, or a ZIP for several images.

Supported files and limits

  • The largest possible area is kept and the pixels are not scaled. Use Resize Image afterwards for an exact pixel size.
  • Keep the centre, or the top or left part, which suits portraits and product photos with space below.
  • Saves as JPG, PNG or WebP, or the original format. Hidden metadata such as the location is not copied.
  • Up to 50 images and 50 MB each.

Common questions

What aspect ratio should I use for Instagram?
1:1 for square posts, 4:5 for portrait posts, which take up the most space in the feed, and 9:16 for stories and reels.
What is the aspect ratio of a YouTube thumbnail or a website banner?
YouTube thumbnails and most video players use 16:9. Website banners vary; 21:9 or 3:1 are common for wide headers.
Will cropping reduce the quality?
Cropping only cuts off edges; the remaining pixels are not resized. Saving as JPG or WebP compresses again, so choose a high quality or PNG.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are cropped in your browser and never sent to our server or anyone else.
