How to use the Duplicate Invoice Finder
- Choose a CSV export of your invoices or bills, paste the table, or try the example.
- Check the delimiter. The invoice number, supplier, amount and date columns are found from the header.
- Select Find duplicates, review each group and download the report as CSV.
Supported files and limits
- Invoice numbers are compared without case, spaces, punctuation and leading zeros, so INV-0042, inv 42 and INV/042 count as the same number.
- Numbers are checked per supplier when there is a supplier column. Amounts like 1,250.00 and 1.250,00 are read as the same.
- With amount and date columns, rows with the same supplier, amount and date under different numbers are also reported.
- Up to 50,000 rows. The file needs a header row.
Common questions
How do duplicate invoices happen?
The same bill arrives by email and by post, a reminder is entered as a new bill, or the number is typed differently, such as INV-042 and INV42. Each looks new to a person entering it.
Where do I get the CSV file?
Most accounting systems, such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage, can export bills or invoices to CSV from their reports or lists. Include the supplier, number, date and amount.
Does a finding mean I paid twice?
Not necessarily. It shows bills to check. A supplier may genuinely send two bills for the same amount on one day.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The file is checked in your browser, and it is never sent to our server or anyone else.
