How to use the Image Print Size Calculator

  1. Choose one or more images, or enter the width and height in pixels.
  2. Choose the target resolution, usually 300 DPI for photos.
  3. Select Calculate print sizes and check the quality for the paper you need.

Supported files and limits

  • Paper sizes: 10 × 15 cm, 13 × 18 cm, 20 × 30 cm, A5, A4, US Letter, A3 and A2. The image fits the paper without cropping.
  • The pixel size is read from the file without opening the picture. Phone photos taken upright are measured upright.
  • The resolution stored in the file is shown too, but only the pixel count decides the print quality.
  • JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP, up to 50 images.

Common questions

What DPI do I need for printing?
300 DPI looks sharp when held in your hand. 200 to 240 DPI is good for most photos, and 150 DPI is fine for posters seen from a distance.
My photo says 72 DPI. Is it too low for printing?
Not necessarily. The DPI number in a file is just a label. What matters is how many pixels the image has: a 4000 × 3000 photo prints sharply on A4 whatever DPI it says.
How big can I print a 12 megapixel photo?
A 4032 × 3024 photo prints at 300 DPI up to about 34 × 26 cm, so A4 is excellent and A3 is still good.
Are my images uploaded?
No. They are read in your browser and never sent to our server or anyone else.
