How to use the Running Balance Checker
- Choose a statement CSV with a balance column, paste it, or try the example.
- Check the delimiter. The amount (or money in and out) and balance columns are found from the header.
- Select Check balances, review any breaks and download every row with its check.
Supported files and limits
- Works with one signed amount column, or with separate money in and money out columns.
- Statements listed newest first are recognised and checked in date order.
- Amounts like 1,250.00 and 1.250,00 are both read correctly.
- Up to 50,000 rows. The file needs a header row.
Common questions
What does a break in the running balance mean?
The balance on that row does not equal the previous balance plus the row's amount. Usually a transaction between the two rows is missing from the export, is listed twice, or has the wrong amount.
Why would an exported statement be incomplete?
Exports are often limited by date range or number of rows, pending transactions may be left out, and joining several exports can repeat or skip days. This check finds those gaps before they reach your accounts.
My bank lists the newest transaction first. Does that work?
Yes. The tool tries both orders and uses the one that matches the balances, then reports rows in date order.
Is my statement uploaded?
No. The file is checked in your browser and never sent to our server or anyone else.
