Supported files and limits

  • Checks og:title, og:description, og:image and its size, og:url against the canonical link, og:type, og:site_name and twitter:card.
  • Shows the fallbacks platforms use when a tag is missing, such as the <title> for og:title.
  • The page is not fetched; paste its source. Tags inside comments and scripts are ignored, as platforms ignore them.
  • Up to 5 MB of HTML.

Common questions

What size should og:image be?
1200 × 630 pixels (1.91:1) works on Facebook, LinkedIn and X. Use a full https:// address and add og:image:width and og:image:height so the image appears on the first share.
Why does Facebook still show my old image?
Platforms cache previews. After changing the tags, open the URL in Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector and fetch it again.
Do I need Twitter card tags?
X reads the og: tags for the title, description and image, but needs twitter:card set to summary_large_image to show a large image.
Is my HTML sent anywhere?
No. It is checked in your browser and never sent to our server or anyone else.
