How to use the UTM Link Builder

  1. Enter one or more page URLs, or try the example.
  2. Fill in the source, medium and campaign name, and optionally content, term and campaign ID.
  3. Select Build links, then copy them or download them as CSV.

Supported files and limits

  • Tags are written in lowercase with dashes for spaces by default, so "October Offer" and "october offer" are not reported separately.
  • Existing UTM tags in a URL are replaced. Other parameters and #anchors are kept.
  • A medium that Google Analytics does not recognise is pointed out, as those visits may show as Unassigned.
  • Up to 5,000 URLs at a time.

Common questions

Which UTM parameters are required?
Use at least utm_source (where the link is, such as newsletter or facebook), utm_medium (the type of channel, such as email or cpc) and utm_campaign (the campaign name).
Should UTM tags be lowercase?
Yes. Analytics treats Email and email as different values, which splits your reports. Lowercase tags with dashes avoid this.
Can I use UTM tags on links within my own website?
No. On internal links they start a new session and replace the real source of the visit. Use them only on links from emails, ads, social posts and other websites.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The links are built in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to our server or anyone else.
